Meeting Description:
The conference aims to bring together
researchers and practitioners in the field of
theoretical and applied linguistics with a view
to promoting interdisciplinary and
intercultural dialogue and enhancing an
eclectic approach to the study of language. At
the same time, this conference provides an
opportunity to re-enforce the dialogue on
research and collaboration in academic and
professional contexts. Such collaboration is
fundamental to the design and implementation of
effective pedagogy, assessment, and
curricula.
Registration Information:
Conference registration will be available on
the conference website after May 3, 2014.
Conference registration closes on September 1,
2014.
The conference registration fee covers cost of
registration, coffee breaks, and the conference
dinner.

Early Bird: By June 1, 2014
- Full-registration: € 60
- Student rate: € 25
After June 1, 2014
- Full-registration: € 80
- Student rate: € 30
Call for Papers:
Structure, Use, and Meaning in Intercultural
Settings
We invite papers on various topics in the
following areas:
- Text linguistics
- Intercultural communication
- Language acquisition
- Language teaching
- Phonology, morphology, and syntax
- Semantics and pragmatics of intercultural
discourse
- Stylistics
- Sociolinguistics/Psycholinguistics
- Lexicology and lexicography
- Translation studies
- (Critical) Discourse analysis
- Current research methods in linguistics
The accepted submissions will be clustered
around their common topics and areas of
interest. The final program (released about two
weeks before the conference) will mirror the
research agendas of the delegates rather than a
pre-conceived list of arbitrary topics.
The official languages of the conference are
English, French, German, and Romanian.
Presentation Guidelines:
Papers will be allotted 20 minutes, plus 10
minutes for discussion.
Abstract Submission Guidelines:
Abstracts should include:
1. The title of the paper
2. A list of 3-5 key-words describing the area
and focus
3. The name(s) of the author(s) and their
affiliation(s)
4. The e-mail address and contact details of
the author(s).
Abstracts should be between 250-300 words and
should be sent via e-mail attachments to the
following addresses:

The deadline for submitting the abstracts is
April 15, 2014. The abstracts will be
peer-reviewed and acceptance will be notified
by May 3, 2014.
Proceedings:
All the papers presented within the conference
sections will be peer-reviewed and proposed for
publication in one of the following:
- A special issue (no. 1 /2015) of the Bulletin
of Transilvania University of Brașov: Series IV
– Philology. Cultural Studies.
- A volume of Proceedings published by
Transilvania University of Brașov Publishing
House
- A collective volume with an international
publisher comprising contributions centred
around a common theme.
