The 7th International Language Conference 'The
Importance of Learning Professional Foreign
Languages for Communication between
Cultures'
Globalisation and intercultural communication
are two important phenomena that characterize
contemporary society and labour market.
Consequently, a good command of foreign
languages has become essential for
professionals from all walks of life. In
response to the ever increasing need for good
foreign language skills, researchers and
practitioners constantly strive to enhance the
teaching and learning process as well as adapt
it to the current needs and trends.
We invite researchers and practitioners in the
field of LSP to participate at the conference
to exchange and disseminate their expertise and
good practice in foreign language teaching and
learning. The 7th International Language
Conference on the Importance of Learning
Professional Foreign Languages for
Communication between Cultures will take place
at the University of Maribor, the Faculty of
Economics and Business in Maribor from 11-12
September 2014.
Practitioners, researchers and postgraduate
students interested in joining the discussion
on current and emerging trends in foreign
language teaching and learning are welcome to
submit proposals for papers or workshops or
join the conference as a listener.
Call for Papers:
Relevant themes and topics may include but are
not limited to:
- The role of languages for specific purposes
in the 21st century
- Modern methods/approaches used in teaching
LSP
- LSP teaching and learning with ICT
- The Bologna process in an LSP course
- Developing language skills in an LSP
course
- Preparation of materials for LSP teaching
- Assessment and grading in an LSP course
- Domain-specific/LSP terminology
- Intercultural dimension of teaching and
learning in an LSP course
- Multilingualism and LSP
Abstract Submission:
Those interested in presenting a paper or
offering a workshop at the conference are
invited to submit an abstract in English or
German of 250-300 words. Please use the form
found on the conference website and send it to
int.conference
fl.uni-mb.si by no later than 16
May 2014 (please note that any abstracts
received after this date will be put on a
reserve list); the file name should be first
author's surname. Please include names,
affiliations and contact details of all
authors. Abstracts will be reviewed and
selected by the professional committee of the
conference. Authors will be notified of
acceptance by 2 June 2014.
Papers:
The conference papers of a minimum 1,500 words
should be e-mailed to int.conference
fl.uni-mb.si by 10 August 2014
(papers can be written in English or in
German). The paper template will be sent to you
upon the acceptance of the abstract. Please
note that the papers will not be accepted
unless the speaker(s) have registered for the
conference by 20 June 2014.
Key Dates:
16 May 2014: Deadline for abstract
submission.
2 June 2014: Notification of accepted abstracts
& Conference registration opens.
20 June 2014 Deadline for registration of
authors.
10 August 2014: Deadline for full papers &
payment of the conference fee for authors.
31 August 2014: Deadline for registration &
payment of the conference fee for
listeners.
