Post-doc in Linguistics

The Post-doc will be a member of the Laboratory for Luxembourgish linguistics and literatures within the Identités, Politiques, Sociétés, Espaces research unit (IPSE) at the University of Luxembourg.

Area: Social dialectology of Luxembourgish and bordering varieties

Your Role
- Conduct a research project on “The social dialectology of present-day Luxembourgish” using quantitative and qualitative research methods of corpus linguistics
- Identify and analyze linguistic variables in phonetics/phonology and morphology and relate them to regional and social criteria
- Liaise with the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning for innovative interdisciplinary cartography and visualization methods
- Publication of research results in peer-reviewed journals
- Administrative tasks in the Laboratory for Luxembourgish linguistics and literatures

Teaching activities in introductory linguistics at Bachelor and Masters level (up to 90 h per year)

Your Profile
- PhD in linguistics
- Research focus on variation studies, social dialectology, corpus linguistics
- Technological skills in cartography, database management etc. desirable
- Language skills: German, English. Also, extensive skills in Luxembourgish are needed. If missing, they have to be acquired at the beginning of the project. Knowledge of French is considered as an asset.
