Call for papers on the theme of 'English for
Specific Purposes: The State of the Art'
The International Journal of Language Studies
is devoting a special issue to the theme of
'English for Specific Purposes: The State of
the Art' which will be co-edited by Emilia Di
Martino, Gabriella Di Martino and Christopher
Williams.
Proposals of 250-300 words would be most
welcome on any topic related to the theme in
question, and should be innovative and original
in outlook, underlining aspects of change in
the sphere of ESP, for example on topics which
stretch or redefine the boundaries of ESP.
Proposals should not have been submitted to
other journals for consideration.
Possible topics may include:
- Redefining ESP in the 21st century
- Innovative studies on one or more of the
sub-disciplines of ESP (e.g. English for
Medical Purposes, English for Academic
Purposes)
- ESP in the multimodal digital era
- The future of ESP research
- ESP and Content and Language Integrated
Learning (CLIL)
- New approaches to intercultural ESP
studies
- Teaching ESP in a context of limited
financial resources
- The changing needs of ESP learners
- Original ways of using corpus studies in ESP
research
- ESP and the new social media
- Interpersonality and ESP
The deadline for submitting a proposal is 31
August 2014. Proposals, which should contain
the name and affiliation of the contributor(s),
should be sent to

Contributors will be notified as to whether
their proposal has been accepted by 30
September 2014.
The deadline for submitting a completed paper
of between 5000 and 7000 words, including
references, is 28 February 2015. All papers
will be double-blind refereed. Publication of
the volume is scheduled for 2016.
