The Institute of Linguistics, University of
Malta, in collaboration with the Department of
Intelligent Computer Systems and the Department
of Systems and Control Engineering, is pleased
to announce a new Master of Science programme
in Language and Computation, opening in October
2014.
The programme, which lasts three semesters,
offers students the possibility to investigate
state of the art topics in the fields of
Computational Linguistics and Natural Language
Processing, with a particular emphasis on
language in embodied systems (e.g. robots and
virtual agents), and social media.
The M.Sc. has a taught and a research
component. We welcome students from diverse
backgrounds, especially those with a first
degree in Computing, Language Sciences (e.g.
Linguistics), Computational Linguistics, and
related areas. Apart from the principal taught
modules, students also have the opportunity to
develop a tailored foundational programme in
their first year of study, to develop knowledge
and skills in fundamental areas, depending on
what their background is.
