Lecturer/Assistant Professor, General Linguistics

The Linguistics Program, Department of Western Languages and Literatures, Bogazici University invites applications for two positions, one to be filled by a Turkish national and the other by a foreign national. The ability to teach formal semantics at undergraduate and graduate levels will be an advantage, however, candidates with any specialization in linguistics are invited to apply. The successful candidates will be expected to teach a minimum of two linguistics courses per term. Responsibilities include teaching and thesis supervision at the undergraduate, MA and PhD levels, contribution to course and project development, and undertaking administrative duties. Bogazici University is committed to excellence in teaching and research, and applicants should have a record commensurate with these qualities.

The successful Turkish national will be employed at the rank of Lecturer/Assistant Professor, starting at a base salary currently ranging between 2300 TL – 2800 TL per month (after taxes are deducted). The foreign national will be employed at the rank of Lecturer/Assistant Professor, starting at a base salary currently ranging between 3100 TL- 4200 TL per month (after taxes are deducted) subject to a yearly renewable contract, and will have national health insurance. Applicants for both positions should be prepared to take up employment on February 15, 2015 or soon thereafter. The positions will be left vacant until suitable candidates are found, therefore, candidates who will be available later than February 15, 2015 are also encouraged to apply.
