Tenure-track Position in English As An Additional Language Learning and Teaching
The Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser University, seeks applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track) to contribute to the establishment and operation of the Centre for English Language Learning, Teaching, and Research (CELLTR), a new initiative currently being established, which will provide students, staff, and faculty with services that support them with learning and teaching in SFU’s multilingual environment. The appointment will begin Sept 1, 2015, or earlier.

Applicants should hold a doctorate in applied linguistics or education with specific attention to the teaching of English as an additional language (EAL). The successful applicant will have expertise and experience in the field of English Language services and support at the Post Secondary level. He/she will have an established or emerging program of research in post-secondary English language learning and teaching, and experience in a Language/Learning Centre. Related administrative experience at the institutional level will be an important asset. Knowledge of a language other than English would be an asset in the position.

Responsibilities include
- Assisting the Academic Director, CELLTR, in conceptualizing and implementing university-wide initiatives in promising practices for EAL student support, program development, and faculty/staff and student initiatives; together with colleagues, initiating and implementing impact assessment for existing and proposed programs for university support for students, faculty, and staff;
- Conducting research in EAL teaching and learning at the post-secondary level;
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and student supervision in the TEAL, the LCL doctoral program, or other program areas.
