Special Issue on Corpus Research in Second Language Learning and Teaching

Guest Editor:
Prof. Cheung, Hin Tat, Hong Kong Institute of Education

Advancements in corpus linguistics in the last decades have widened the scope of research in second language learning and teaching. Research in learner corpora opened up a new window to examine learner's language both qualitatively and quantitatively. General and specific corpora formed new bases for the planning and development of teaching materials. Easy access to corpus tools allows synthesis and analysis of learners' language in a snap. Corpus linguistics has become a topic of great importance and interest to scholars in second language research. This special issue aims to bring together corpus-based studies, focusing on the use of corpora for refinements in the learning and teaching of English. Contributions that address a wide range of related issues are invited. Areas for consideration include, but are not limited to, the following:

- The use of corpus tools in second language classroom.
- The use of corpus research in developing teaching materials.
- The use of corpus tools in analyzing the language of language learners.
- The use of learner corpora in understanding the needs of second language learners.
