The department of English Language at the University of Glasgow invites applications for a number of scholarships to conduct postgraduate research. We offer world-leading expertise in modern English language and Linguistics, English Historical Linguistics, Scots and English in Scotland, and medieval English studies. We welcome applications for scholarships through the following scheme:
Carnegie/Caledonian PhD Scholarships

Nominations are sought for the Carnegie/Caledonian PhD Scholarships 2015-16. Candidates must be graduates of a Scottish university, with a first-class Honours degree. Candidates must be nominated by the prospective supervisor of the PhD project, who must be an academic member of staff of a Scottish university, at the level of Professor, Reader, or (Senior) Lecturer.
