Meeting Description:

The ORD team and the network ''Urban Voices'' invites participation in the international conference ''Urban Voices: Linguistic Variation and Communicative Diversity'' in Saint Petersburg. The conference is to take place at the Saint Petersburg State University on June 24-26 2015.

The conference aims at bringing together researchers who are working on authentic data from everyday speech and spontaneous interaction in Slavic languages and who are interested in linguistic and communicative diversity.

No conference fee.

Call for Papers:

Contributions using different approaches in the fields of sociolinguistics, pragmatics and interactional linguistics are welcome.

The conference concludes the work of the Russian-German research network ''Urban Voices'' http://www.slm.uni-hamburg.de/ISlav/forschung/UrbanVoices/urbanvoices.html, which has studied communicative and linguistic diversity in Russian spontaneous speech and interaction in different social contexts for three years. Among other corpora, the data analysed by the network include the unique ORD Speech Corpus of Russian Everyday Communication “One Speaker's Day” (Odin rečevoj den') collected in Saint-Petersburg.
