The course is organized by the Center for Multilingualism in Society across the Lifespan (MultiLing) at the University of Oslo:

The instructors are Jannis Androutsopoulos (University of Hamburg) and Ana Deumert (University of Cape Town).

The course offers two complementary approaches to new media sociolinguistics, focusing on relations between multilingualism, mobility and digital communication. Jannis Androutsopoulos examines the impact of social media environments on multilingual practice, while Ana Deumert explores issues of power and poetics from a broadly post-structuralist perspective.

The program will consist of lectures (2x45 minutes) in the morning by the invited experts, and short student presentations followed by discussions in the afternoon. There are required course readings for the course.
