The Institute for Natural Language Processing (IMS) at Faculty 5 (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology) of the University of Stuttgart is seeking to fill the position of a Junior Professor of Computational Linguistics (W1-level).
The successful applicant has a convincing research profile in Computational Linguistics and its current methods, e.g., Machine Learning, which matches the institute in a complementary way (

Candidates are expected to show potential for the acquisition of third-party funding and to be ready for interdisciplinary collaborations (Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Linguistics, Digital Humanities), in particular with SFB 732 “Incremental Specification in Context”. Experience with the modeling of linguistic data and processes across levels and/or across tasks is desirable (for example Prosody and Syntax, Machine Translation and Information Retrieval, Discourse and Dialogue Understanding, Multimodal grounding of meaning).
In teaching, the successful candidate will contribute to the institute’s programs of study, according to the regulations for the teaching load in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. Some of the teaching is to be held in English.
Appointments are subject to the terms and conditions of § 51 Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg (State law on universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg) for ‘Juniorprofessor’ positions.
