Call for papers for Special Issue: 'Language Impairment in Bilingual Children'
Linguistic Approaches to Bilingualism (LAB) is planning a Special Issue on 'Language Impairment in Bilingual Children' edited by Theo Marinis and Sharon Armon-Lotem and scheduled for publication in 2016. This special issue addresses language impairment in bilingual and multilingual children. Current research has focused predominantly on the morphosyntactic and vocabulary abilities of bilingual children, but studies on other domains of language are limited. This special issue aims at bridging this gap by including studies comparing bilingual children with typical language development and those with Language Impairment addressing one or more of the following factors:
- Domains of language: phonology, vocabulary, morphosyntax, semantics, pragmatics;
- Modality (comprehension vs. production);
- Narrative development (macro- vs. microstructure);
- Effects of L1 and L2 properties;
- Effect of age, AoO, LoE;
- Effect of SES and bilingualism type (e.g., simultaneous, sequential, minority, majority);
- Executive functions.
Manuscripts will be submitted directly to Linguistics Approaches to Bilingualism.
The word limit for each paper is 8,000 words. All papers will be reviewed through the journal review system.
Please send an expression of intent with a provisional title and a short (150 words) abstract to t.marinis
