The department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science, FLoV, was created 1 January 2009 and consists of the subjects linguistics, practical and theoretical philosophy, logic, and the philosophy of science. Centre for Linguistic Theory and Studies in Probability (CLASP) at FLoV is funded by a ten-year grant from the Swedish Research Council (2015-2025). For a description of CLASP see

Specific subject description
CLASP is devoted to research and advanced training in the application of probabilistic modeling and machine learning methods to core issues in linguistic theory and cognition. It will also address problems in dialogue and linguistic interaction.
Job assignments
The Senior Lecturer will teach courses in CLASP's primary research areas to insure that the necessary training is given to the PhD students of the Centre. She/he will also contribute to CLASP's ongoing research, and to the supervision of its PhD students. The Senior Lecturer, together with the Director and the Research Coordinator will provide CLASP's core senior scientific training and research resources.
The holder of the position is expected to carry out the vast majority of her/his duties in Gothenburg.
Eligibility
A doctoral degree is compulsory for a position as senior lecturer at the University of Gothenburg. The doctoral thesis should be in a relevant area according to the specific position stated here. The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointments procedure for teachers University of Gothenburg.
Assessment
Teaching and research skills will be equally weighted in the assessment of candidates' suitability. Scientific proficiency is assessed primarily on the basis of the applicant’s PhD thesis and other publications. Publications demonstrating close links to the research group's activities are a merit. Documented good interpersonal skills and good skills in terms of planning and organizing research and communicating their own research results is also meritorious.
Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance, and in the University of Gothenburg’s “Appointment procedure for the appointment of teachers at the University of Gothenburg” (see link above).
The applicant shall in addition to cited documents and other documents provide contact information for two academics familiar with the research work of the applicant, for further contact/reference. The recruitment process may also include interviews.
