Abstract:

Intonation studies deals with the melodic arrangement of vocal statements. Today, thanks to considerable progress made in recent decades, this area of research plays a central role within the fields of phonetics and phonology. Nevertheless, the phenomenon of intonation has remained difficult for students to grasp. This volume aims to provide a first introduction to modern intonation studies. It is aimed at students of Germanic and General Linguistics at BA and MA level, teachers and researchers in the field of German Studies and of German as a foreign language as well as readers who work in related disciplines.
