Meeting Description:
With an ever-increasing number of cross-cultural interactions both in the world of academia and in the workplace, understanding the impact of culture on human interactions is becoming critical for effective academic and corporate communication to occur. The premise underlying the conference theme is that cultures provide preferred ways for people to organize and communicate their thoughts depending on forms of discourse and on face systems they participate in. Consistent with cultural variation in communication behavior, business negotiations also feature differences in persuasion and negotiation styles, and in conflict resolution techniques.
The lack of definitive research in this area suggests many new avenues for future research within the field of intercultural communication, with particular reference to the context of cross-cultural discourse, business and cultural studies.
Conference Goals:
- To foster interdisciplinary dialogues for developing unified approaches to complex problems of communication across cultures
- To build bridges between the academic and corporate worlds
- To advance the methodology for intercultural studies
- To integrate research perspectives and practice in the fields of discourse studies, textual linguistics, business and cultural studies as well as foreign language teaching
- To provide insight into pedagogical approaches for academics who work with culturally diverse students

Call for Papers:
We invite abstracts within the field of intercultural communication, with particular reference to the context of cross-cultural discourse, business and cultural studies.
Papers will be allocated 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions. Abstracts of no more than 300 words including references should be sent as MS Word attachment to (cocac2015
spoleczna.pl) by 31 July 2015. Please, include your name, affiliation and email address in the body of the email, not in the abstract itself. Notifications of acceptance will be communicated by 15 September 2015.
The language of the conference will be English.
