Meeting Description:

The 47th Algonquian Conference will be held at the University of Manitoba’s Executive Education Centre, in downtown Winnipeg, October 22–25, 2015.

The conference is an international meeting for researchers to present papers in Algonquian studies. Fields of interest include but are not limited to anthropology, archaeology, art, education, ethnography, ethnobotany, folklore, geography, history, language education, linguistics, literature, music, native studies, political science, psychology, religion and sociology.

The conference will open on the evening of Thursday, October 22 with a welcome reception. Regular conference sessions will take place from Friday morning to Sunday noon.

Call for Papers:

We invite proposals in English, French, or any Algonquian language for papers in all areas of Algonquian research. Graduate students are encouraged to submit. Presentations will be 20 minutes long followed by a 10-minute question period. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words in length, excluding title and references.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is September 1, 2015.

Abstracts must be submitted via e-mail to algonquianconferencegmail.com as an attachment (Word or PDF). Abstracts using IPA fonts should be submitted as a PDF. In the subject field of the e-mail enter “Abstract submission”. In the body of the e-mail, include the following information:

1) Title of the paper
2) Name(s) of the presenter(s)
3) Department and affiliation
4) Student or non-student
5) E-mail address for each speaker
6) Postal address
7) Your requirements for audio-visual equipment
