Meeting Description:
Invited Speakers:

Sergey Avrutin (Utrecht University)
Workshop Description:
The one-day workshop wil take place during the Formal Description of Slavic Language (FDSL11) conference taking place at the University of Potsdam, 2-4 December 2014. The exact day of the workshop will be announced.
The workshop will focus on various aspects of the first language acquisition of syntax in the Slavic languages. The workshop pursues a two-fold goal. On the one and, it aims to provide a platform for the presentation of acquisition data from a broad variety of Slavic languages. On the other hand, it motivates a discussion of the intrinsic properties of the syntax acquisition of the individual Slavic languages and consequently urges an analysis of the Slavic data in a comparative perspective. Generally, it will be interesting to see what empirical evidence the acquisition data may (or may not) provide for current syntactic theories. L1 Slavic data from monolingual, multilingual as well as from typical and atypical acquisition may be presented.

Extended Deadline for Abstracts: 31 May 2015
The abstract submission deadline for the the workshop ''L1-Aqcuisition of Syntax in the Slavic Languages'', taking place during the FDSL11, will be extended to 31 May 2015.
We invite researchers to submit papers that advance our understanding of the first language acquisition of syntax in the various Slavic languages.
Some of the phenomena that can be discussed in view of the Slavic L1-acquisition data are word order properties, clause structure in the early stages, acquisition of the (non)pro-drop parameter, morphosyntactic features, verbal categories, binding and coreference, functional categories, passive etc. This list of topics is by no means exhaustive and papers discussing other related issues are welcome.
A publication of the workshop papers is planned. The volume should contribute to the research on language acquisition in a cross-linguistic perspective by shedding light on current acquisition research on Slavic.
Abstracts for the workshop should be submitted via EasyAbs at
http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/FDSL2015 by 31 May 2015.
Abstract Submission Deadline: 31 May 2015
Notification of Acceptance: 30 July 2015
