What is an Advanced Research Residency (ARR)?
An ARR is an opportunity for scholars from around the world, with broadly common or connected interests, to come together to visit an academic institution as a collective, rather than individual academic visitors. The ARR in Language and Law welcomes scholars interested in any area of aspect of forensic linguistics and language and law. The ARR runs From September to December 2015 in the Centre for Language and Communication Research at Cardiff University. Scholars can stay for the whole duration of the event or drop in for individual sessions. Activities will be concentrated in November, in particular, so we envisage that some scholars will wish to attend for some or all of that month, in particular.
During the ARR, we will host multiple visitors and will hold a number of exciting events including a conference, specialist workshop and writing retreat. We welcome contributions from those in attendance. The event is open to all, from doctoral candidates to senior professors.
For more information about the ARR, including the current programme, please go to: http://blogs.cardiff.ac.uk/call/arr/
Banco Santander Funding: Advanced Research Residency in Language and Law (2015)
We are delighted to advertise four scholarships of 3000.00 GBP each to support attendance at the forthcoming Advanced Research Residency in Language and Law at Cardiff University. These scholarships have been generously funded by Banco Santander. The funding is to be spent on bench fees and travel to/from and accommodation at the ARR.
The Advanced Research Residency offers an opportunity for scholars from around the world to come together to share their research, learn and study together in a supportive environment. We welcome scholars at any stage of their career.
In order to be eligible for the funding:
- you must have applied for the ARR itself and been offered a place.
- you must be resident within one of the following countries which are all part of the Santander agreement: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Spain, Portugal, UK, Russia, USA, China, Germany, Singapore, Poland, Ghana, Belgium, Qatar, or UAE
The ARR is running for the whole of 2015 with the predominance of activities taking place between September and December and a particular focus on November. The funding is to be used for a stay in Cardiff during these last four months of the year.
Participants should apply for the ARR and the scholarship separately.
