Meeting Description:

The conference of the Linguistic Association of Nigeria is an annual conference that takes place in different universities in Nigeria on rotational basis. This year’s conference will be hosted by Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Nigeria and the theme of the conference is ''Language, Society and Emergent Varieties''. The subthemes include: emergence and dimensions of language internal varieties, emergent bilingualism, emergent linguistic theories, languages and evolving identities, emergence of linguistic forms in time, language policy and social varieties, languages in contact and development of new pidgins, youth language, neologisms, language use and social networks. However, in line with the tradition of this annual meeting, papers from all other areas in linguistics are welcomed.

The following distinguished scholars have accepted our invitation to participate as plenary speakers:

Conference Registration Cost:

Early Bird Registration Fee (before 30 Sept 2015) - 10,000 Naira
On-Site Registration - 12,000 Naira
LAN Membership Dues - 2,400 Naira
New Members Registration - 5,000 Naira
Paper Assessment Fee - 2,000 Naira
Subscription for Two Issues of JOLAN per year (optional) - 5,000 Naira

Foreign Participants (total package) - 100 Dollars or 85 Euros

The registration fee covers cost of conference materials, tea breaks, lunch and closing dinner

Call for Papers:

Abstracts of not more than 300 words are invited for 25-minute presentation. The abstract should be followed by the name of the author(s), title of the paper, institutional affiliation, e-mail address and phone number on a separate page. The abstract should be sent as an e-mail attachment to awkaclan2015gmail.com on or before 30th Sept 2015. Letter of acceptance of abstract will be sent to the e-mail address of the sender within three weeks of receipt.
