Meeting Description:
Papers are invited for the panel “The language(s) and lects of Dominicans,” to be proposed for the Linguistics, Language and Language Policy track of the Latin American Studies Association. This theme is especially apropos given that LASA will celebrate its 50th congress in New York City, home to the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute and a sizeable Dominican community.
Call for Papers:
In this spirit, authors are invited to submit abstracts of original empirically- or theoretically-driven research on Dominicans’ language practices in national and diasporic contexts; research may address any level of language analysis, from perspectives of structural linguistics, sociolinguistics, or anthropological linguistics.
Prospective presenters should submit a preliminary abstract of less than 500 words to Almeida Jacqueline Toribio: toribio
