The University of Frankfurt, Department of Linguistics, offers a post doc position as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter / Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin (TV-GU 13).

The position is to be filled by October 1st, 2015. The position is initially limited to 3 years. A prerequisite for employment is a finished dissertation in Germanic linguistics or general linguistics with a clear focus on German. The ideal candidate has a strong theoretical orientation as witnessed by internationally accepted publications. It is expected that the candidate will teach courses within the limits defined by the contract of employment. The position offers the option to work on a Habilitation.

Your tasks:

- Participation in research, teaching and administration
- Participation in research projects
- (International) publishing and presentation activities
- Grant application and (external) fundraising
- Participation in the organization of workshops, conferences, symposia
- Preparation /finalization of a (publishable) habilitation
- Teaching classes within the limits of the contract
- Examination activities
- Support and mentoring of students
- Participation in evaluation activities and in quality assurance
- Participation in the administration of the department

Your profile:

- A finished Ph.D. in Germanic linguistics or general linguistics with a focus on German
- Professional competence: you are a theoretical linguist with an interest in empirical research on German
- Teaching competence: experience with student mentoring, teaching experience (also larger classes), experience with e-learning
- Computer literacy (word processing, internet, e-learning, possibly analysis of speech signals)
- Foreign languages: English (additional languages welcome)
- Ability to work in teams
- Experience with scientific management
- Experience with (external) fundraising
- Knowledge of university internal structures and processes
