Minimum Education Level: Undergraduate
Description:
The Arabic Heritage Language (AHL) Program offers courses for individuals who grew up in Arabic -speaking environments and are able to communicate, to some extent, in more than one language. Some students are immigrants who were exposed to extensive schooling in their native countries. Others are first, second, or third generation bilinguals whose abilities in the heritage language vary widely. While some are highly proficient in Arabic, others only possess basic speaking and listening skills, or merely understand the language. To serve these different individuals’ needs, the Arabic Heritage Language Program was developed as an independent track at The Arabic Heritage language Institute in Cairo. AHL courses are specifically designed to use the student’s pre-existing contact with Arabic.
