The 2016 Hispanic Linguistics Symposium will be held October 7-9 2016 at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Georgetown University, Washington DC.

In addition to the main program, the conference will feature a colloquium on heritage language learning, organized by Melissa Bowles (University of Illiois, Urbana-Champaign) and Julio Torres (University of California Irvine) and a colloquium on language variation, organized by Israel Sanz Sanchez (West Chester University).
Call for Papers:
We solicit abstracts for paper and poster presentations in any area of theoretical and applied linguistics dealing with topics in Spanish and Portuguese and the languages they are in contact with.
Anonymous abstracts should be submitted through EasyAbstracts at http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/HLS2016
. Abstracts should be max. 2 pages long (12 point font, 1-inch margins) with examples included in the text. Authors may submit up to two abstracts, only one of which may be joint work. Authors should also indicate if they want to be considered for a talk (20 minutes + 10 minutes for questions) or a poster presentation or both. To assist in the review process, we request that no identifying information be included in the abstract.
