The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Rowan University seeks a dynamic tenure-track Assistant Professor to lead a new departmental initiative in Spanish Translation and Interpretation, to begin September 1, 2016.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Translation and Interpretation Studies in Spanish or Applied Hispanic Linguistics with a focus in Translation and Interpretation from an accredited U.S. or equivalent non-U.S. institution. Native or near native fluency in Spanish and English. Substantial teaching experience at the college level. Demonstrated commitment to an active research agenda.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and interest in teaching and developing Spanish translation, interpretation, and professional courses in several fields, such as business, medical and legal Spanish; in addition to these courses, this faculty member is expected to be able to teach Spanish language courses at all levels of instruction. Experience and interest in developing internships, community outreach and service learning opportunities in applied Spanish. Proficiency in technology in foreign language teaching, with interest in teaching online or hybrid courses a plus.
Duties Include:
A 3/3 teaching load is guaranteed for the first two years and can be renewed annually with evidence of continuing scholarship. Candidates must be committed to service, including advising and mentoring students, and participating in department, college, and university service.
