Description:
The Department of English at the University of Petra is a dynamic and growing department. It offers three study programmes; two undergraduate study programmes (the BA in English Language and Literature, and the BA in English Language / Translation) and one postgraduate programme (the MA in Translation).
The Department of English is looking for candidates to fill the post of Assistant Professor and/or Associate Professor.
Duties
The post's responsibilities includes teaching core Linguistics courses (Semantics, Syntax, general Linguistics) for undergraduates and postgraduates, and supervising postgraduate theses and the comprehensive exams.
Staff members are also expected to keep office hours, demonstrate active participation in the governance of the University, Faculty, and Department, and conduct scientific research and publish the results in peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements
A PhD degree in a relevant field to the post, from a local university or an internationally-recognized university.
Salary and Conditions of Service
The details of the contract can be provided upon request. It’s worth mentioning that staff members are entitled to fringe benefits like health insurance and life insurance, and non-Jordanians will be provided with tickets for themselves, their spouse, and three children below the age of eighteen.
