Meeting Description:
The African Studies programme of the Department of World Cultures (University of Helsinki) will organise the 6th International Conference on Bantu Languages. The conference brings together specialists in all aspects of the study of Bantu languages. It is open to different theoretical frameworks and methodological approaches.
In addition to the main conference, there is a possibility to organise thematic half-day workshops on Thursday, 23 June 2016.
Call for Papers:
Invitation to propose workshops
The 6th International Conference on Bantu Languages will be held at the University of Helsinki in Finland. It will be organized by the African Studies program of the Department of World Cultures (University of Helsinki) with the support of the Finnish Oriental Society (
www.suomenitamainenseura.org/english/). The conference aims to bring together specialists from all areas of the study of Bantu languages, and is open to different theoretical frameworks and methodological approaches.
The general sessions will run from 20–22 June 2016. Additionally, half-day thematic workshops will be held on the morning of Thursday, 23 June 2016. The workshops will run from 9:00–14:00, and workshop organizers are free to arrange papers and discussions within this time frame as they see fit.
If you are interested in organizing a workshop, please contact Axel Fleisch at axel.fleisch
helsinki.fi no later than 30 April 2015. Please include a workshop title, along with a brief description of the topic and how you wish to organize the workshop. Note that we can host a maximum of four thematic workshops.
We will announce the thematic workshops together with the call for papers for the general sessions in June 2015. Submitted abstracts indicating that they are intended for a thematic workshop will then be forwarded to the organizers of the respective workshop.
