The Open University of Catalonia (UOC) has launched a call to award PhD scholarships in several areas of research. One of these is Conceptual Metaphor and Mental Health under the supervision of Drs. Marta Coll-Florit and Salvador Climent. The central aim of this research will be to analyze texts produced by individuals affected by mental disorders in the web (blogs, social networks) in the light of the Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT) cf. Lakoff & Johnson (1980), Lakoff (1991, 1993), Gibbs (1994). Other topics at the crossroads of CMT and the Information and Knowledge Society can also be proposed by those applying to the position.
Both distance and full-time face-to-face positions are offered but only the latter are eligible for scholarships –on a competitive basis. The maximum duration of the internship is 4 years. This line of research is associated to the “Information and Knowledge Society Doctoral Programme”. This proposal is part of the research line “Culture, Society and Language” supported by the “Interuniversity Research Group in Linguistic Applications (GRIAL)'' –officially recognised as a consolidated research group by the Government of Catalonia (2014).
Detailed information and requirements to apply for the scholarships can be found in the link below.
