The dynamic nature of Translation and Interpreting Studies that we currently witness derives to a considerable extent from their interdisciplinary dimension. For a few decades now they have been intertwining with disciplines pertaining to applied linguistics (corpus linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, discourse analysis and pragmatics, cognitive linguistics, etc.), but also with traditionally remote-standing ones, such as computer science. Such partnerships among disciplines oftentimes entail the engagement of a diversity of conceptual and methodological aspects in a converging manner. There are indisputable mutual benefits of interdisciplinary approaches for the disciplines in contact which are enriched with new insights and perspectives in the theoretical realm. But novel methodologies have also emerged in applied studies, opening paths for a wealth of more in-depth or new types of investigations.
