Meeting Description:

The American Name Society is the world's oldest scholarly societies devoted to the study of names and naming. In January 2017, we will be holding our annual conference in conjunction with the Linguistic Society of America in Austin, Texas. Abstracts are warmly welcomed on any area of onomastic research [e.g. people's names (anthroponyms); animal names (zoonyms); place names; names of bodies of water (hodonyms), names of literary figures (characteronyms) etc.] from any language, from anywhere on the planet, past, present, or future.

Call for Papers:

The American Name Society is inviting submissions for the 2017 annual conference to be held in conjunction with the Linguistic Society of America. Abstract submissions on any area of onomastic research are welcome.
To submit a proposal, simply complete the 2016 Author Information Sheet (AIS) found at the conference section of the American Name Society website.

For organizational purposes, please be sure to include the phrase ''ANS 2017'' in the subject line of your email. All proposals will be subjected to blind review.
