The conference will also host a special session with the theme: Words: Representation, Acquisition, and Pedagogy.

Call for Papers:

We welcome papers questioning various aspects of lexical description, acquisition of lexical competence and its development in monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual environments.

- Lexical semantics, lexicon-syntax interface, word meaning in context
- Mental lexicon (development, components, structural organization, processes, mental lexicon in L1, in L2, in bilinguals and multilinguals)
- Examination of lexicon in psycholinguistics
- L1 and L2 reading, writing and paraphrasing ability
- Adult and children’s lexical acquisition
- Context of learning and its impact on accuracy and fluency (immersion settings, implicit vs explicit instruction, study abroad)
- Instructional practices (teaching approaches, use of CALL, resources facilitating the development of lexical competence)
- Lexical knowledge assessment (depth, breadth, receptive-productive, reading and writing)
- Language teacher training (teaching of lexical concepts, linguistic theories and their application in teaching)

Graduate students are especially encouraged to submit. Papers are 30 minutes in length (20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion). Abstracts should be no more than 300 words in length, excluding title and references. On a separate page, please list your paper title, name, affiliation (indicate if you are a student), your current electronic and mailing address, and any audiovisual equipment that will be needed for your presentation. Please submit abstracts and cover page via email as separate attachments (MSWord, Rich Text Format, or PDF). Abstracts will be anonymously reviewed.
