Dear LINGUIST List subscribers,

We are pleased to inform you that the UMass Boston has launched a new PhD program in Applied Linguistics.

The Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics at UMass Boston provides students with a comprehensive study and understanding of the theoretical, empirical, and practical dimensions of the field. The curriculum is designed to enable future researchers to understand the diversity of issues associated with the study of language in society from a variety of critical perspectives and frameworks. The different areas of inquiry are reflected in the scholarship of the Department’s outstanding faculty who are committed to research, teaching, and mentoring new researchers/scholars.

We are accepting applications this winter (the deadline to apply for Fall 2017 admission is January 15th, 2017). Students interested in applying to this program are encouraged to check our webpage https://www.umb.edu/academics/cla/appling/grad/applied_linguistics_phd/admissions.

For questions and additional information, please send email to Prof. Panayota Gounari (panagiota.gounariumb.edu) or applied.linguisticsumb.edu.
