Quintin Hogg Trust Scholarship in Social Sciences and Humanities
The University of Westminster Graduate School is pleased to offer five MPhil/PhD Scholarships in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Scholarships are open to candidates with a Home fee status, and are full-time for three years and include an annual stipend of £16,000 and a Home fee waiver starting in September 2017. As part of the Scholarship candidates will be required to undertake up to six hours teaching per week.
The Faculty of the Social Sciences and Humanities is home to a broad and lively research culture. Situated in the heart of London and with over a 100 current research students, we are committed to stimulating and supporting world-class innovative research across our full range of subject areas. The Scholarships will be awarded to candidates:
– with an outstanding record of academic achievement
– whose proposals indicate excellent projects of great originality
– whose proposals fit with and promise to enhance our research culture
The Scholarships are available in the following areas:
- English Language
- Linguistics
Research expertise in English Language is focused on: the history of English; medieval literature and language; lexical semantics; metaphor and metonymy; literary stylistics; language and gender. Research in Linguistics embraces a number of areas of expertise including: multilingualism and language contact; creole linguistics; theoretical syntax.
