Meeting Description:
The American Associated for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will be holding its annual meetings from February 11 to 15 in Washington, D.C., with the theme of ''Global Science Engagement''. There will be a number of events of interest to linguists. These include the business meeting of Section Z (Linguistics and Language Sciences), the LSA exhibit at Family Science Days, and the following symposia, among many of possible interest to LSA members:
- Rethinking Child Language Disorders: Insights from Sign Language Research
- Bilingualism Matters
- Aligning Publishing Incentives with Research Transparency and Integrity
- Artificial Intelligence: Imagining the Future
- I Can’t Hear Myself Think! Noise and the Developing Brain from Infancy to Adulthood
- Understanding Speakers of 7,000 Languages
- How the Body Shapes the Mind
- At a Loss for Words, or Losing Your Mind? New Views on Language Problems in Aging
AAAS is a valuable vehicle for informing the broader public about recent advances in our understanding of how language works. Linguist List readers are encouraged to join AAAS, attend the annual meetings, and come to the Section Z business meeting.
