Focus: The proficiency-based curriculum of the IU Summer Language Workshop teaches to the four skills and features 20+ contact hours weekly.

Offering intensive summer language training at the Bloomington campus of Indiana University since 1950, the IU Summer Language Workshop provides over 200 participants annually the opportunity to complete a full year of college language instruction in eight week summer sessions.

Languages:
Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (the three languages are taught together, but you can list them separately if that would work better with the system), Chinese, Estonian, Haitian Creole, Hungarian, Japanese, Kurdish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Mongolian, Persian, Russian, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
Financial Aid: Applications accepted until
Competitive Title VIII Fellowships are available to qualified U.S. graduate students, area specialists, and scholars for select languages. Title VIII funding applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until April 20, 2017. Foreign Language & Area Studies Fellowships are available to qualified students for select languages. Applications for Title VIII Fellowships are available on the IU Summer Language Workshop website as an extension of the Workshop's online application. For those interested in applying for FLAS, separate applications for the Workshop and FLAS funding are required. Letters of recommendation and official transcripts are required as part of both applications. More information is available on the website.

Registration Instructions:
Official transcripts from any undergraduate and graduate level study are required as part of the application process. Applicants will be enrolled as Indiana University students for the summer term.
