Subject: Canonical Order in Spanish Punctuation
E-mail this message to a friend On Wed, Dec 4, 2002, James L. Fidelholtz posted a request on the Linguist List for information about when the idea of ''canonical order'' was coined, because a student of his was working on a thesis on punctuation in Spanish and was trying to show that Spanish punctuation was related to canonical order.
I have tried for some time and in several ways to communicate with Fidelholtz and could not get any response from him. Also, I have searched in vain for some dissertation on the topic of the use of canonical word order in relation to punctuation in Spanish.
I'm wondering if anyone on the list has encountered a dissertation on this subject or something like it.
