Call Deadline: 15-Apr-2017
Meeting Description:
Trondheim, the host of the very first Comparative Germanic Syntax Workshop in 1984, is very pleased to ‘welcome home’ CGSW 32, which will be hosted by the Department of Language and Literature at NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
The Comparative Germanic Syntax Workshop (CGSW) is an annual conference bringing together researchers with a comparative interest in the syntactic variation attested in Germanic languages, past and present. See
http://www.let.rug.nl/~zwart/cgsw/ for an overview of CGSW’s history.
CGSW 32 will feature a two-day general workshop on 14 and 15 September. In addition to the main workshop, we will host a special pre-workshop focusing on variation in Germanic from a psycholinguistic perspective. We construe the definition of “variation” broadly and invite any work that touches on the processing of one or many Germanic languages by native, non-native, and heritage speakers. The pre-workshop will be held on 13 September.
Invited Speakers:
Elisabet Engdahl (Gothenburg)
Tanja Kupisch (Konstanz and Tromsø)
Christina Tortora (CUNY)
2nd Call for Papers:
We invite abstracts for thirty-minute talks (followed by ten minutes of discussion) on any aspect of comparative Germanic syntax, including diachronic syntax and the interface between syntax and other components of the grammar.
We also invite abstracts for the pre-workshop on any aspect of the psycholinguistics of variation in Germanic.
Abstract Guidelines:
Abstracts should not exceed two pages (A4 or letter size), with 2.5cm margins on all sides and a font size of 12pt. This includes data, references and diagrams.
Each author may submit no more than one single-authored and one co-authored abstract, or two co-authored ones.
Abstracts must be anonymous and prospective presenters should submit their abstract through EasyChair at
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cgsw32.
You will be asked to indicate in the submission process whether you wish your abstract to be considered (a) only for the main workshop; (b) only for the pre-workshop on the psycholinguistics of variation in Germanic; or (c) for both the main workshop and pre-workshop.
The deadline for submission is April 15, 2017 (midnight CEST/6 pm US Eastern time). Notification of acceptance will be sent May 15, 2017.
