Assistant / Associate / Full Professor of Portuguese in Translation Studies

The Department of Portuguese of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for the position of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Portuguese in the following discipline:

Portuguese Studies : Translation Studies

Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a PhD in Translation Studies or in a related area of Portuguese Studies. Applicants should have an excellent record of internationally recognized research and publication and a demonstrated potential for outstanding research. Applicants should also have native or near-native fluency in Portuguese along with experience teaching Portuguese as a second/foreign language. Applications in all areas of Translation Studies will be considered, but those in the areas of translation theories or with the translation interpretation skills will be particularly welcome. A good command of English is also preferred. The position’s rank is open at Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, although a senior appointment is preferred.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in as early as August 2017.

Position and Remuneration:

Remuneration and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification, current position and professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
