The Department of English at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) boasts an outstanding faculty who are internationally recognized for their work in the areas of Applied English Linguistics and English Literary Studies. Consistently ranked as one of the top English Departments in Asia, the Department of English at CUHK is currently seeking outstanding postgraduate students with research interests that complement those of the faculty.

In conjunction with the Hong Kong government, the Department of English is able to offer full funding for study through two mechanisms:

1. Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme

The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK $20,000 and a conference travel allowance of HK $10,000 per year. CUHK Vice-Chancellor HKPFS Scholarship offers awardees a tuition fee waiver for their first year of study. The application deadline is December 1, 2017. Details of the scheme can be found at .

2. General Admission RPG Studentships (MPhil/PhD)

The current monthly stipend for a Postgraduate Studentship is HK $16,270 per month. Prospective applicants are advised to submit their application materials before December 31, 2017 for both English Literary Studies and Applied English Linguistics to be considered for 2018-2019 admission.
