Focus: A one-week intensive course intended for Danish, Nordic and international PhD students with an interest in sociolinguistics, multilingualism, interaction analysis and language policy. The course will be concerned with theoretical, methodological and analytical aspects relevant to the state-of-the-art of these disciplines.  Different perspectives pertaining to language policies and practices within the Nordic community will be thoroughly and critically addressed. Although the Nordic countries will be the cases in point, the general scope of the course goes beyond specific localities to engage in more general sociolinguistic phenomena. Internationally leading experts will deliver keynote lectures and provide the necessary theoretical background for workshop exercises and discussions. The course alternates between plenary sessions, workshops in smaller groups, project presentations, panel discussions and poster sessions. Participants will, according to choice, be divided into three different groups which focus on one of the following three topics: - Policies, ideologies and histories, - Space and materiality, - Emergent linguistic practices.
