The chair covers German linguistics in teaching and research with a specialisation in grammar and lexicon. The successful candidate will have expertise in the general area of grammar and lexicon with a strongly empirically based focus, evidenced through data-intensive research based on the candidate’s own data collection, controlled experiments or the analysis of large language corpora. Experience in one of the following fields is also desirable: Theory of the lexicon, Semantics, Linguistic theory. Aside from research, teacher-training is also an important responsibility of the chair, also meaning that the successful applicant should have an interest in areas such as norm and variation as well as linguistics in education.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach at undergraduate and graduate level, and develop a research program with international visibility. The successful applicant will teach in the Bachelor and Master programs run by the Institute of German Linguistics (German Studies, German Linguistics and Linguistics). Experience in attracting external funding and grants is expected, as is scientific visibility at a national and international level.

Applicants must hold a PhD and postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent academic merits as well as pedagogical qualifications through prior teaching experience.
