The Faculty of Arts at Friedrich Schiller University Jena is seeking to fill a position as Professor (W2) in German Linguistics / Language variation and change starting on October 1st, 2019.

The successful candidate will have teaching and research experience in German linguistics with a specialisation in language variation and change. S/he will have expertise in the general area of language variation and change with an empirically based focus, evidenced through data-intensive research, controlled experiments or the analysis of large language corpora.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach at undergraduate and graduate level in teacher training courses as well as Bachelor and Master programs run by the Institute of German Linguistics. Course language is German. Furthermore, s/he must have a proven track record concerning the successful application for external research funding, a scientific visibility at a national and international level, and the capacity to contribute to the development of interdisciplinary research projects.

Applicants must hold a PhD and postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent academic merits in the above mentioned field as well as pedagogical qualifications through prior teaching experience.
