The Department of Modern Languages invites applications for a position as Assistant Teaching Professor of Hispanic Studies, a three-year renewable position beginning in August 2019. Teaching Track appointments at Carnegie Mellon are regular faculty appointments with provision for unlimited renewal and promotion to Associate Teaching Professor and Teaching Professor based upon pedagogical excellence, leadership in curricular development, and contributions to the profession.
Successful candidates will have:
- A doctorate in an appropriate area of Hispanic Studies,
- A record of outstanding teaching,
- Native or near native proficiency in Spanish, and
- Expertise in content-based instruction and community-based learning.
- Experience with film studies, translation, or technology-enhanced learning is also desirable.
Candidates should be able to teach upper division as well as lower division courses and collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment with colleagues working in the areas of literary and cultural studies, language acquisition, assessment, linguistics, global studies, and community outreach. Teaching load is 3+3. Salary is commensurate with experience.
