Meeting Description:
The Spanish Association for Corpus Linguistics
(AELINCO) and the Organising Committee are delighted to release this invitation to
participate in the X International Conference on Applied Linguistics and Corpora
(CILC2018), which will be held at the Faculty of Arts (Filosofía y Letras) of the
University of Extremadura (Cáceres, Spain) in May 2018 (9-11).
The theme of
this edition—and the focus of some of the keynote addresses and many other papers—
will be “Corpus Linguistics for the Study of the Influence of English on World
Languages.” Thus, this edition of CILC constitutes an ideal discussion forum for the
analysis of the methods, tools, and—above all—resources that Corpus Linguistics has
made available to scholars and researchers whose interest lies with the indelible
mark that English is leaving on practically every language in the world—many of
which will hopefully be represented in this edition.

Call for Papers:
New Deadline: 15 February
As it has been
customary in previous editions of CILC and in accordance with the AELINCO mandate,
the conference welcomes other contributions that may enhance and deepen our
understanding of Corpus Linguistics. These should fit into any of the nine thematic
panels:
1. Corpus design, construction and typology
2. Corpus-based
discourse analysis and literary analysis
3. Grammatical studies and corpora
4.
Corpus-based lexicology and lexicography
5. Corpora, contrastive studies and
translation
6. Corpus-based variation and language change
7. Corpus-based
computational linguistics
8. Corpora, language acquisition and language teaching
9. Corpus linguistics and languages for specific purposes
Paper
Proposals:
The Organising Committee welcomes proposals for papers (20
minutes), posters (A1 format), workshops, seminars, and roundtables that pivot
around any of the thematic panels listed above.
You may submit your
proposals (either in English or Spanish) starting on the date that the Conference
website will be fully functional (October 1, 2017) until the final deadline
(February 15, 2018). Proposals must not exceed 500 words (bibliography excluded) and
should be submitted through the EasyChair platform to the relevant panel, where it
will be reviewed. Each proposal can only be submitted to one panel.
