Linguistic Field(s): Language Acquisition
Subject Language(s): English;
German
Language Family(ies): Germanic
Call Deadline: 30-May-2018
Meeting Description:
Linguists still categorize language learning
and bilingualism according to traditional morphophonemic, syntactic and semantic
features. But most of the linguistic forms and concepts cannot be explained alone by
phenomena of the involved languages, kinds of acquisition phases or individual
competence of the speakers. We still have insufficient knowledge about cognitive
mechanisms behind language processing and the establishment and quality of
form-function-relationships.
Of special interest is the discussion of
relevant research in Cognitive Sciences explaining phenomena of language learning
and bilingualism. The aim of the workshop is to introduce candidates of investigated
data, which are probably involved in several cognitive processes of language
acquisition.
Call for Papers:
We especially welcome work in
progress on investigations of German as a foreign/second language and German in
bilingualism in research fields such as
- morphology and word-formation
-
syntax
- language production strategies (written and spoken language)
