Meeting Description:
The Applied Linguistics landscape is rapidly
changing due to the diversity of social, political and educational issues. The theme
of the conference – Engaging Diversity: Making Sense of Key Issues in Applied
Linguistics – provides a forum for discussing how the discipline can respond
effectively to the challenges and opportunities afforded in local and global
contexts. Join scholars, language professionals, and interested community members in
the 2018 Applied Linguistics Association of Australia conference to be held at the
University of Wollongong in Australia.
Call for Papers:
We are
inviting abstracts in any area of Applied Linguistics that is interesting and
innovative. The quality of your abstract should be scholarly and academically good
with clear objectives, research design, and results where appropriate.
Abstract

Choose your
presentation:
Oral Presentations:
30 minutes (20 minutes
presentation, 5 minutes Q&A and 5 minutes transition time). An abstract of 300 words
should be submitted, including the title, author(s) and affiliations.
Workshops
/ Colloquia:
60 minutes (including Q&A and transition time). Aimed at
providing opportunities for panel and audience participation, or shared
presentations, interaction and discussion around a theme or topic. A general summary
with abstracts of 300 words for individual presentations to be submitted.
Poster
Presentations:
We value poster presentations and encourage submissions from
those who prefer an alternative to presenting interesting and innovative research
activities. All posters will be on display throughout the conference as well as
having dedicated author presentation/Q&A times. All posters are to be in A0 in size,
displayed as portrait or landscape, and printed by the author/presenter. An abstract
of 150-200 words should be submitted, including the title, author(s) and
affiliations.
Lightning Talks:
Presenters have 5 minutes to
present an introduction to a topic or idea about their research. Presenters are
limited to using 3-5 slides. We encourage higher degree research students to submit
an abstract to present on their research. Each session will comprise of 5-6
presenters. The theme of the Lightning talks is Challenges I face as a researcher.
An abstract of 150-200 words should be submitted, including the title, author(s) and
affiliations.
Submission Requirements:
- Titles: 10 words or less
- Submitted and presented in English
- Title, author(s) and affiliations
- Do not use abbreviations in your text
- Only one table, charts or other
graphic should be included in the abstract
- The Program Committee reserves the
right to decide on the final allocation and presentation format
- After
submitting your abstract, you will receive a confirmation email
- Please note
that the final acceptance of a proposal requires the registration of the presenting
author
- You will be notified of your acceptance by 1 May 2018
