Description:

The Department of English at Calvin College invites applications for a one-year affiliate position in Linguistics. Pending final administrative approval, the appointment will begin August, 2019.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or A.B.D. in Linguistics with a concentration in ESL and Applied Linguistics; expertise in sociolinguistics, English grammar, and/or child language acquisition are desirable additional specializations. A candidate should show excellence as a classroom teacher, evidence of an active program of scholarship, and a dedication to the integration of Christian faith and the study and teaching of linguistics.

A faculty member of Calvin College commits to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith, learning, and student development; and to the educational mission of Calvin College as a Christian liberal arts college affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church.

Affiliate faculty members typically teach three courses in each of the fall and spring semesters, as well as a January interim course. They are encouraged to pursue an active scholarship agenda, and to serve on college and departmental committees.
