Description:

Pending on final approval by the Ministery of Education and Research (BMFB), the Leibniz-Zentrum Allgemeine Sprachwissenschaft (ZAS) in Berlin invites applications for a three year postdoc position in the area of language documentation and language typology for a project on the development of criteria and standards for the curation of annotated audiovisual language data.

In collaboration with partners at the Universität Hamburg, the Universität zu Köln, the Institut für Deutsche Sprache (Mannheim) and the Endangered Languages Documentation Programme (ELDP, London), the applicant will develop operational criteria for the curation of annotated audiovisual data, typically of small languages, that make them accessible for linguistic, in particular typological, research. Within ZAS, the applicant will work in collaboration with the DoReCo project (http://www.leibniz-zas.de/doreco.html).

We are looking for a person with experience in language documentation, corpus building, language archiving, and in language typology and linguistic theory. A working knowledge of German is a plus.

Please apply until May 12, 2019, with one single pdf file, subject “QUEST application”, to both Manfred Krifka (krifkaleibniz-zas.de) and Frank Seifart (seifartleibniz-zas.de).

Your application should contain:
- A letter of intent that states in particular the nature of your interest in the project and your expertise that you would contribute
- Your CV with a list of your publications,
- The names and e-mail addresses of two persons that would provide reference letters if so asked.

ZAS is an equal opportunity employer.
