The Adam-Mickiewicz-University in Poznań (Poland) and the University of Greifswald (Germany) are pleased to announce a two days workshop on ''Age effects in bilingual language acquisition''. The workshop will be held from March 7 to March 8, 2019, at the University of Poznań in Poland. Confirmed keynote speakers include

(ii) Cristina Flores (Universidade do Minho, Braga, Portugal)
(iii) Natalia Gagarina (ZAS Berlin)
(iv) Esther Rinke-Scholl (University of Frankfurt/Main, Germany)
The workshop is the final part of a joined international research project on age effects in bilingual Polish-German language acquisition, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, Germany) and the Narodowe Centrum Naukowe (NCN, Poland) and conducted at the Adam-Mickiewicz-University Poznan and the University of Greifswald. Apart from the keynote talks and two presentations of results from the project there will be four slots for young scholars working on age effects in bilingual language acquisition. We therefore invite young scholars (PhD students, PostDoc students) working on a topic related to age effects in bilingual language acquistion to submit an abstract (maximum length: one DIN A4 page, including figures and references) in order to take part in the workshop. Four abstracts will be selected by the program committee and each winner will be awarded 700 euros funding to cover at least a considerable part of his/her travel expenses.
Call for Papers:
Topics of the workshop include, but are not restricted to:
- age effects in heritage language acquisition;
- differences and commonalities between simultaneous and early successive bilingual language acquisition;
- critical periods in language acquisition and first language attrition;
- age effects and crosslinguistic influence in bilingual language acquistion.
There are no restrictions with regard to language pairs covered in the research. The language for abstract and presentation at the conference will be English only. Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail to Prof. Dr. Aldona Sopata (E-Mail: sopata[at]amu.edu.pl) and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Brehmer (E-Mail: brehmerb[at]uni-greifswald.de) simultaneously until January, 31, 2019.
