The Ph.D. program in Applied Linguistics at Northern Arizona University (NAU) would like to announce the 2019/20 Presidential Fellowship Program, which will offer generous support packages of $23,000 (or higher) per academic year to highly qualified incoming Ph.D. students beginning in fall 2020. Fellowship awards consist of a graduate assistantship stipend, a supplemental fellowship stipend, full tuition remission, major medical insurance benefits, and annual professional development funding. Awards are renewable for up to 4 years.

Academically outstanding students who are considering a Ph.D. program at NAU are encouraged to submit application materials as early as possible to be eligible for this fellowship program. Following an interview and acceptance into a Ph.D. program, NAU faculty members may nominate top students to receive Presidential Fellowship Awards. You may apply at any time before our standard application deadline, but the nomination process is competitive, so it is essential to apply early.

To be considered for a Presidential Fellowship nomination, you must be accepted into the Ph.D. program.

In order to do this, applicants must (a) apply to the Ph.D. degree program and (b) ensure that ALL application materials—including the online NAU application, transcripts, statement of purpose, current CV, recommendations, GRE scores, TAship application materials, and, if relevant, TOEFL/IELTS scores—are received. Applicants do not apply for the Presidential Fellowship Program directly. Only those who are accepted into the Ph.D. program are potential nominees for the Presidential Fellowship.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received. To begin the application process, go to the application link provided below.
